Toilets are commonplace for WATER LEAKS.

Check inside the toilet tank. If inside the tank, water drops down slowly. Sometimes within, say, 15 or 20 minutes. This means there is a constant water leak.

More than likely, the toilet has a 400A Fluidmaster (SOME TOILETS HAVE A PUMP INSTEAD OF FLUIDMASTER). If it has a fluidmaster, This should be changed.

I also like to change the water line because it compresses the rubber connection.

And I also like to change the flapper if it has a flapper. They can usually only cost a Few Dollars.

I check under the flapper to see if it’s soft or worn out.
Now, this is the most important PART CHECK FOR LEAKS THOROUGHLY.

You can also see if, on the sides of the water bowl, there is a constant water leak that is noticeable.

And like I said, also check the water meter for movement (This Is Important).

3.) This is pretty standard or well maybe not. Because this also involves some knowledge or familiarity with plumbing.

When you check the sinks first you check the drain or what is called the pop-up assembly which is the piece directly under the sink, connection.

You also want to check around the water stop. I usually use my fingers and or also a small mirror and a drop light.

I will touch the bottom of the stop to see if a leak or water is leaking.

I will also see directly under the water stop to see if there is any kind of drops or leak.

Then 5-Star Rated San Diego Plumber will also check the drain to make sure the final thing is to check the bottom of the cabinet. For a water leak.

Checking a Water Heater for Plumbing Leaks.

4.) Check the top of the water heater where the water connections are.

Last Week, I went to see a lady who said for me to change the water heater.

But I said first, “Let Me Take a LOOK At The Water Hester First?”

Well, it turned out that it was only Leaking from a Bibb where you drain the water heater. Which no one ever does.

All I Did Was TIGHTEN the Bibb, and the LEAK was Fixed!

That Is Why I said, First SEE WHERE IT IS LEAKING FROM.

Check The Top of The Water Heater. Where The Water Flex Connectors are.

The water heater also has what is called the T & P valve. This should rarely leak.

The hose bibb will be the final place to check on a water heater for water leaks. This is used to drain the water heater when it has sediment build-up.

And Check around the base. Of the Water heater to make sure there is not any leak. If it leaks from the inside, you need to replace the water heater.

Locating a Slab Leak. By a 5-Star Rated Plumber.

5.) First, check your water meter when no one is using the water.

To see for movement of the red star or dial moving.

Next, if there is a movement of the water meter dial.

You can check the water service line. If you have a shut-off valve that works, then turn it off.

There again, be careful that the valve is working otherwise.

If it isn’t then pass this step.

If you try and force the valve you can break the shut-off valve.

Now check the water meter and see if there is a leak or movement when the valve is shut off.

If so then the leak IS IN THE WATER SERVICE LINE.

The next place to check is the Hot water heater there should be a shut-off valve also if it turns off.

Then check the water meter for a leak or movement.

If the movement stops that means the leak is in the hot side.

Another way is to feel the floor for a hot cement slab floor sometimes in the kitchen area.

If so what you can do is Reroute part of the hot water line. OVERHEAD. To the kitchen.

Replacing a Drain (Cast-Iron Pipe). With ABS Plastic Piping

This to should be done by a Licensed Professional.

7. The Good thing about the cast-iron pipe is that once removed (usually with a grinder.)

That you can Install ABS plastic piping? The following can be done.

To replace a cast-iron pipe, you can take a measurement from what is called end to end and cut the pipe, say about 1/4″ shorter, and place Fernco rubber connectors. For the connection.

You also want to run water to check for leaks.

Basic tools are needed like the following:

An ABS Saw or just a regular saw. A Torpedo Level.

I even sometimes use a saw to cut the pipe. For bigger size pipe, 3″ or 4″ pipe.

I use ABS Tubing cutters for 1/ 1/2″ or 2″ pipe. And a Tape measure.

I would recommend seeing several videos on YouTube to learn how to solder properly.

When soldering, I always carry several water spray bottles with me and clear anything flammable around.

Soldering should be carried out by a professional.

Make sure there is NO WATER in the line. (This Is Very Important. The Pipe Will Not be Solder Properly if Water is in The copper Pipe.

Because the water will not allow it to heat properly and solder.

Also, make sure there is an escape from the pressure buildup.

Then I will open all the faucets to bleed out the water before soldering.
