5-Star Rated Plumbing Company & Best Practices.
Best Plumbing Company In San Diego Practices.
In Cast Iron long sweeps are used, or the term can be applied more so as referred to as Long Sweeps.
The advantage is to have or use a Long Sweep when going from horizontal to vertical. See this will create Velocity or flow for the water.
The same applies for drainage for instance if you have good “Flow” say 1/4″ of an inch per foot drop. Which is what I always try to go by.

Or at least the bare minimum of 1/8 of per foot drop. Which you are not supposed to use on I think except for the 4″ pipe or greater.
But I have used it sometimes on 3″ pipe because the distance to the sewer line was too far. but you always want the entire line to have a slope. Although I try to always go by the 1/4 per foot mark or drop.
By the way the caveat to all this is that ABS Plastic is so versatile or in other words easy to install.
For one thing all you need for installation is an ABS Saw for 3″ and 4″.
Installation Tips: Plumbing Company, In San Diego
Quick Tips:
Many times I actually use a Saw saw or a Tiger saw (Reciprocating Saws.)
Another Tip is I also use for 1-1/2″ and 2″ ABS pipe cutters especially made for cutting ABS Plastic pipe.
And since ABS plastic pipe is pretty light it makes the installation way easier. Well I should say compared to cast-iron pipe.
And if your under neath a house use cardboard to crawl on top of it and so it makes like a little path and a more comfortable work area.
And another tip is to use a torpedo level.
5-Star San Diego, Plumbing Service. Long Sweep Fittings
Anyways, although now in ABS the term is also used for a fixture fitting. Having a longer sweep. Like the following. Is always recommended by this Plumbing Company In San Diego.
When I say 1/4″ inch or 1/8″ inch. I mean when using a torpedo level for instance when looking at a torpedo level you want to be 1/4″ inch of a bubble drop if you lay the level on a pipe. Past the mark on the torpedo level.
The reason being that there is less chance of a stoppage occurring. This is what I use when I make an ABS installation.
The following can be used when installing a medium sweep 90 horizontal to horizontal. Although notice How it has a smaller curve.
An Exception. When to Use a Vent 90.
The exception to this is when installing a vent you can use a vent 90 fitting. See the Image of a vent 90. A vent 90 does not have a curve.
In other words, it is used for venting ONLY. All plumbing fixtures (s). Toilet, sink
bathtub, shower. Are supposed to have a vent this will help it in the drainage of the plumbing fixture.
The following is a vent 90. Which should Only be used for venting purposes. Otherwise, it can cause stoppages. And should always be used 6″ above the flood level of the plumbing fixtures in the room.
It is always recommended to get a professional to do the work.
