4. Gain experience working on projects worth $500 or less while supervised by a licensed contractor or having four years of proven journeyman experience.
5. Submit a C-36 specialized Original Contractors License application.
6. Present proof of a four-year apprenticeship program, equivalent college degree, or relevant training.
7. Take and pass the license exam in its entirety.
8. Complete all fees.
9. Pass a criminal history check, which includes fingerprinting.
10. Submit documentation proving you have workers’ compensation insurance or are exempt from the rules.
11. A having a strong surety bond for the contractor.
