My Response To The Question:

I was taught by a Master Plumber (By The GRACE of GOD) a while ago. Anyways back to your Question. Jack would tell me, ( A Master Plumber who Taught Me).

If it isn’t done right first, do it over again. So, Yes, Take all the caulking Off, and don’t try to shortcut it. Take off as much as possible. Use a Metal Putty knife. And “Cut The Tip” To The Dap at a 45-degree Angle.

And USE GOOD QUALITY CAULKING ( If You use Cheap stuff Like the $2.00 stuff, those usually will build Mold and Mildew.

The Brand I use is called “DAP” (Costs around $6.25 for a 10. ounce tube, and it has a Lifetime Guarantee Against MOLD and Mildew ) and is for the Kitchen and Bathroom; it comes in White or Clear.

And As I said, it can be cleaned up with Water. I usually use a Clean white rag, soak it in water and RINSE THE RAG REAL GOOD, put it in a tourniquet, and rinse it. (Don’t Use a Colored Rag, Only a White Rag).

Then I use my finger to get the caulking and finish it with the Moist Rag.

There are some Plastic Tools to get it at a 45 Degree angle, but that’s how I was taught, so I always use my finger and a damp white rag (Make sure it’s CLEAN). And remember to rinse out the rag well.
