Well, I am answering your question. I would not recommend it. But since I do not know from what country you are from and the circumstances. I will answer to the best of my ability.
That’s for sure about passing away from the water you would drink. That all depends if the toilet tank is clean or not. You could get some disease if it’s not clean or worse.
For instance, I am sure in many third-world countries, when water is NOT readily available, people can become thirsty to drink water from a river or lake, etc.
I would say if there weren’t any water to drink. Your Question is, Toilet Tank water, I believe. The emphasis is on the Toilet TANK. If that is so. Then the following is more adequate.
It’s the same water coming out of the Faucet in the Toilet TANK, although the Tank may not be very hygienically clean. I did say TOILET TANK, NOT IN THE TOILET BOWL.
But even then, it could depend on several factors, including How Strong Your Immune System is? And How Much Water you drank? But when you think about it, as a boy scout, when we would go camping. I remember they gave us “Water Tablets” to use on River water to “Purify” it to make it Potable (Drinkable).
And if we go back a hundred years (the 1800s), say people would drink water from the ground with a pump.
Go back Hundreds of years we would have to drink water from a stream. Although I’m sure that the water from a stream was pretty pure several hundreds of years ago, given now all the pollution that goes into the rivers, and streams.
Anyways, Suffice to say, Even Drinking Water Out of the Tap or Faucet is not Healthy (Tap Water is Highly Chlorinated).
A Reverse Osmosis System. Should be Installed for Drinking Potable Water in the Kitchen.
Or better yet get a Three-gallon bottle of water and go to a local Kiosk for 75 cents. you will have water for a week.

While were on The Topic or Subject of Water or lack of water. Just suppose or Imagine. Something I have always Pondered GOD Forbid.
But What would happen to say if Our Country were to go into a Deep Recession like in the 1930s?
Maybe having fruit trees in the backyard might help substantially.
Would the water still be operational and the electricity? I mean with Hyperinflation. And so what would be the cost? Well that is I guess another story.
And not to forget about Global Warming. The drying up of the water in one place. And flooding in another place.
